Apart from working diligently on making the premise of this satirical show interesting, Jeremy also paid attention to choosing the best filming locations. During the initial stages of production, Jesse spoke to a number of cinematographers and took their advice before choosing the shooting location for Succession.
However, just as the principal photography for the pilot season was about to commence, the director asked the production members to scout for ideal filming locations in America. The original idea of the director was to shoot in Croatia.
But, since the production members weren’t able to acquire the filming permission in time, Armstrong was weary about proceeding with the original idea. Thus, after several weeks of brainstorming, Jesses eventually decided to shoot the first season of Succession in and around New York.
Other seasons of the show were later filmed in several parts of Croatia. In fact, some Succession seasons were also filmed in Italy, UK and Norway. The principal photography of the pilot season commenced towards the end of 2016 and lasted for 8 weeks.
