The Plot Of Till | What Is Till About?

The storyline of Till follows Mamie Till Mobley’s journey to seek justice for her son, Emmett Till. Mamie’s 14-year-old son was brutally lynched and murdered by white supremacists in 1955.

This attack happened because Emmett whistled at a white woman, Carolyn Bryant, while he was visiting his cousins in Money, Mississippi. At Emmett’s funeral, Mamie insisted that the casket containing her son’s body remain open so that everyone could see what the people had done to him.

Mamie didn’t let her grief control and limit her actions. Grief turned to rage and rage turned to action. She turned to activism and fought hard to seek justice for his son. Till, told entirely from the perspective of Mamie Till, is the story of a mother who changed the face of the world for her son.
