Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington

Originally, the filmmakers had decided to shoot the theme park scenes in Disneyland. But, their request to film there got declined. This made them go for an alternate option: Six Flags Over Texas, located in Arlington. You can find this place on Highway 360 between Dallas and Fort Worth.  

So, Six Flags Over Texas is the actual Troublemaker Theme Park that you see in the movie. It is named after director Rodriguez’s studio. The scene where Juni saves the President’s daughter from the clutches of the juggler was filmed here. 

State Capitol Building, Texas

The scene where the kids meet the President was filmed in the State Capitol Building. It is located on Congress Avenue, between the 11th and 14th Streets in Austin, Texas. The State Capitol Building’s structure is inspired by the US State Capitol in Washington, DC. The only difference is that the former is a tad bit bigger, it’s located in Texas, after all.

Scenes involving the OSS Junior Building were actually filmed at the San Antonio Public Library located on 600 Soledad Street in downtown San Antonio. This beautiful library was designed by a Mexican architect called Ricardo Legorreta and opened to the public in 1995. If you’re a bibliophile, this is the perfect place for you to visit. 

Lake Travis, Austin

When you watched the movie, did you also get fooled by the ‘ocean’ bit? If yes, then you’ll be surprised to know that the ‘ocean’ scene was filmed in Lake Travis, located in Austin. The shoreline of the lake was removed to make it look like an ocean.
